GenPac hosts solar water heating technical training

General Pacific was proud to host solar water heating technical training January 10-13, 2012, an event sponsored by Energy Trust of Oregon and delivered through Northwest Energy Education Institute. This course was designed for plumbing and HVAC contractors, and attendees learned to successfully specify, sell and install residential solar water heating systems.

The four-day training included classroom instruction as well as hands-on experience with Rheem solar water heating components and software tools. Special attention was paid to Energy Trust installation requirements as well as Solar Rating and Certification Corporation standards, which informed attendees how to install solar water heating systems that qualify for Energy Trust cash incentives and state and federal tax credits. The full training package included:

  • 32 hours of technical classroom and hands-on training
  • Continuing education credits for licensed plumbers
  • A certificate of completion for the training hours needed to sit for the Solar Heating NABCEP EL exam
  • Printed materials
  • Lunches

Attendees also gained the necessary credentials to become Solar Water Heating trade allies with Energy Trust and Oregon Tax Credit Certified Technicians with Oregon Department of Energy.
